The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework is followed by nursery settings and reception classes and covers children’s development and learning from birth to the age of five. You can find out more by downloading the EYFS Parents Guide or by speaking to your key worker.
The framework ensures that your child will be safe and well cared for and ensures children make good progress with their learning and development and achieve their potential in their earliest years.
Children thrive when parents and professionals work together and share information. Finding out what your child is doing at nursery will help you to understand how they are progressing and how you can support their learning and development at home.
Principles of EYFS
A Unique Child – Every child is a competent learner from birth who can be resilient, capable, confident and self assured.
Positive Relationships – Children learn to be strong and independent from a base of loving and secure relationships with their family and/or key person.
Enabling Environments – The environment plays a key role in supporting and extending children’s development and learning.
Learning and Development – Children learn and develop in different ways and at different rates and all areas of Learning and Development are equally important and interconnected
