Stoneygate Nursery School is committed to safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children and young people.
We have a number of policies and procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment, including our Child Protection Policy which can be viewed in the Policies section of our website.
- Rigorous procedures and policies are in place in the Nursery School to keep all children safe.
- All staff, governors and volunteers have enhanced DBS checks every three years.
- Staff receive training throughout the year: face to face training, online training and the seven minute briefings
- Members of the Governing Board undertake training to support them in their role.
- Staff teach children on a regular basis about how to keep safe, both in general and online.
Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with his/her parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child’s welfare.
The Designated Senior Lead for Safeguarding and Child Protection is Mrs Hunt, Headteacher.
Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead is Miss Schofield .
The Designated Governor responsible for Safeguarding and Child Protection is Miss Morris.

Children and Family Wellbeing Service
The Children and Family Wellbeing Service, previously children’s centres and Young People’s Service, provide services to help with parenting and other support you may need.
They offer different services across a range of locations to meet the needs of the local community including:
- Support for individual children, young people or their families
- Health services – ranging from health visitors to breastfeeding
- Parenting advice for mums, dads and carers
- Activities and groups where your baby, toddler or child can play and learn
- A place to pick up Healthy Start vitamins and tablets
- Advice to help you to support your child’s learning from birth
- A great place to make new friends
- Connecting with the local community
- Access to specialist support for families with children with disabilities/additional needs
- Groups for expectant mums and dads
- Advice and guidance on how to keep you and your child healthy

- Information about local childcare
- Help to access adult learning opportunities
