What is a Maintained Nursery School?
A Maintained Nursery School (MNS), is a local authority setting that is funded and controlled by the local authority, just like any other local authority primary or secondary school.
Maintained Nursery Schools must be led by a Headteacher and employ other qualified Teachers and Teaching Assistants, including a Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator (SENDCo).
Ofsted inspects and regulates all Maintained Nursery Schools in exactly the same way as they would conduct their inspections across primary or secondary school settings too; this ensures that you can make more of an informed decision about the provision you choose to send your child too.
Stoneygate Nursery School is proud to be a Maintained Nursery School. With a wealth of expertise, resources and experience for Early Years Education, you can be assured that all of our staff work extremely hard to deliver the very best quality of education to each of our children, successfully preparing them for the next stage in their educational journey.
As a Maintained Nursery School, we can assure you that we strive to:
- Provide high quality early education, led by a Headteacher, qualified Lead Teacher, and a range of qualified Early Years Educators.
- Integrate education, care and health services for children, so that all aspects of a child’s development can be supported.
- Put parents and families at the centre of our work.
- Have the skills and expertise to support children with SEND needs.
- Are effective in ‘closing the gap’ between the most disadvantaged children and their peers as a result of thorough assessment and carefully planned teaching and learning opportunities for all of our children.
