A Maintained Nursery School (MNS), is a local authority setting that is funded and controlled by the local authority, just like any other local authority primary or secondary school.

Maintained Nursery Schools must be led by a Headteacher and employ other qualified Teachers and Teaching Assistants, including a Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator (SENDCo).

Ofsted inspects and regulates all Maintained Nursery Schools in exactly the same way as they would conduct their inspections across primary or secondary school settings too; this ensures that you can make more of an informed decision about the provision you choose to send your child too.
