Stoneygate Nursery School is committed to safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children and young people.

We have a number of policies and procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment, including our Child Protection Policy which can be viewed in the Policies section of our website.

  • Rigorous procedures and policies are in place in the Nursery School to keep all children safe.
  • All staff, governors and volunteers have enhanced DBS checks every three years.
  • Staff receive training throughout the year, including but not limited to, a combination of face to face training, online training and seven minute briefing updates.
  • Members of the Governing Board  undertake training to support them in fulfilling their role.
  • Staff teach children on a regular basis about how to keep safe, both in general and online.

Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with his/her parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child’s welfare.

Lancashire Family Hubs Network

Your Local Family Hub can help provide support for you and your family from a variety of local services both in person and online. Support is available for all stages of family life, from pregnancy through to 19 years old or 25 for those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

Families can access a wide range of services at Family Hubs, such as:

  • midwife and health visitor appointments
  • groups for expectant mums and dads
  • counselling for families
  • baby feeding advice
  • SEND support groups and advice

Early Help Assessment (EHA)

At Stoneygate Nursery, we pride ourselves on the Early Help support that we offer our families. It is important to recognise that anyone, at any point in given time, may need a little bit of external advice or support and that to ask for this, is the right thing to do.

The Early Help Assessment, referred to as 'Your Family's' Early Help Assessment', is a holistic and supportive tool, designed to help identify the specific areas of support that may be needed by a family. Following the assessment, we work with families, and any necessary external services, to formulate a plan and embark on accessing a wider partnership of services.
